SkyPilot Receives FCC Certification for 5.250-5.350 and 5.470-5.725 GHz

Additional Frequencies Give Wireless ISPs Much More Spectrum

SANTA CLARA, CA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – May 20, 2008 – SkyPilot Networks, the leading provider of carrier-class broadband wireless networks, today announced that it has received FCC certification for the entire line of multi-hop point-to-multipoint products in the 5.250-5.350 GHz and 5.470-5.725 GHz frequency ranges. These frequencies add to SkyPilot’s FCC certifications in the 4.940-4.990 and 5.725-5.850 GHz ranges as well as other international certifications across the entire spectrum from 4.940-5.850 GHz, which currently provides coverage for over 50 countries around the world.

“The availability of an additional 355 MHz of unlicensed spectrum is significant to last-mile wireless ISPs,” said Paul Gordon, president and CEO for SkyPilot. “When combining this much spectrum with SkyPilot’s unique ability to easily deploy remote point-to-multipoint base stations, wireless operators now have an extremely cost-effective method of leveraging unlicensed spectrum to provide high-capacity last mile broadband services over large coverage areas.”

The new certification is available on SkyPilot’s base station products – SkyGateway and SkyExtenders – as well as on the SkyConnector customer premise equipment (CPE). These frequencies can also be used to provide backhaul for outdoor 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks and 4.9 GHz public safety networks through the SkyExtender DualBand, SkyExtender TriBand, and SkyAccess DualBand products.

In addition, due to the embedded wideband antennas, the latest SkyGateways and SkyExtenders can be “tuned” to the new frequency regions through a simple frequency conversion, which is available for free from SkyPilot. This gives wireless operators the ability to select the frequency used anywhere from 4.940 GHz to 5.850 GHz without having to change hardware.

Ronald Celmer, CFO of TierOne Converged Networks (http://www.tocn.com) in Dallas, TX said “SkyPilot’s combination of cost-effective products with unique range and capacity characteristics give us the ability to roll out highly competitive VoIP and Internet services at extremely attractive price points.”

The FCC certification is complete and products are generally available. Pricing for SkyPilot’s products remains the same as previously established and can be purchased through SkyPilot’s channel partners (http://www.skypilot.com/partners/distributors.php).
