SkyPilot Reaches Milestone of 40,000 Units Shipped
Broadband Wireless Market Continues to Showcase Growth
SANTA CLARA, CA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – July 17, 2008 – SkyPilot Networks, a leading provider of carrier-class broadband wireless networks, today announced that it has shipped over 40,000 units to more than 50 countries around the world. The growth in product shipments continues to come mainly from the fixed broadband wireless market, where service providers deploy “last-mile” services to residential and business customers in frequencies ranging from 4.9-6.0 GHz, and the “mixed-use” municipal wireless market, which provides solutions for mobile public safety, video surveillance, and automatic meter reading (AMR).
“Most service providers realize that they can leverage license-free spectrum to provide broadband Internet services at competitive prices,” said Paul Gordon, president and CEO of SkyPilot. “This provides an extremely attractive financial model: monthly recurring revenue with a low up-front deployment expense and minimal ongoing operating expenses, which allows the service provider to grow their networks rapidly and profitably.”
The flexibility of SkyPilot’s solution – which provides both fixed “last-mile” services as well as mobile Wi-Fi services at 2.4 and 4.9 GHz – allows it to fit into a wide range of applications. SkyPilot’s synchronous products enable voice over IP (VoIP) as well as broadband access, enabling service providers to offer a wide range of attractive subscriber services.
