High Availablity

One of the key requirements of a carrier-class network is High Availability. To ensure High Availability, the network requires fault tolerance and redundancy to eliminate single points of failure. In addition, the network needs to have the intelligence to provide self-healing and failover in case of outages, failures, or misconfiguration.

To support the requirements of a carrier-class network, SkyPilot implemented a full complement of network-wide redundancy and fault tolerance capabilities into the mesh infrastructure as well as providing the self-healing and failover routing capabilities in the Synchronous Mesh Protocol .

Base Station Redundancy
To eliminate the single point of failure of traditional base stations, SkyPilot provides the capability to deploy multiple base stations for redundancy. The redundant base stations not only provide fault tolerance but provide added capacity (see Scalable Capacity & Performance ) as well as active load balancing and traffic segmentation.

Wireless Link Redundancy
With its Advanced Antenna Array , a SkyPilot network provides multiple wireless links between devices within the mesh. These links are automatically configured as either active and standby based on the best-path routing algorithm, with standby links saved for redundancy.

Self-Healing through Dynamic Failover Routing
With redundant base stations and wireless links, the SkyPilot infrastructure provides the fault tolerance required for High Availability, and the Synchronous Mesh Protocol provides self-healing in case of any failures. If a failure were to occur, the network automatically and dynamic adapts to provide failover protection. If a base station were to lose connectivity, traffic is re-routed to other base stations with the network re-optimizing with load balancing and traffic segmentation. If a link were to fail, the dynamic best-path routing would find a new best path to route around the failure.

SkyPilot provides a simple way to deploy a broadband wireless network, and the network is intelligent enough to provide optimization and self-healing capabilities to ensure maximum uptime.
