Scalable Performance & Capacity
When building out a broadband wireless network, you need to have the confidence that subscribers will get the performance they've paid for and that the network can scale to meet the demands of an increasing subscriber base. With SkyPilot, the network provides a wide array of performance and capacity scaling capabilities to keep up with the demands.
Ensuring High Modulation Rates
There are several ways in which SkyPilot can help achieve high modulation rates throughout the wireless network to ensure maximum throughput.
With SkyPilot's Advanced Antenna Array , which provides high-power, high-gain, sectorized antennas, high modulation rates can be maintained even across long distances.
There are certain distances and obstructions that can negatively affect modulation rates even for SkyPilot's high-power, high-gain system. Fortunately, though, SkyPilot can elegantly and easily address both of these issues.
SkyPilot can easily address the effect of long-distance low modulation rates between devices by adding another node in between the devices. The natural capability of the mesh forms new higher modulation rates in both directions without causing interference or negatively impacting performance.
When obstructions cause low modulation rates between devices, SkyPilot can increase modulation rates by routing around the obstruction. Again, the natural meshing capabilities form new higher modulation rates links in both directions without introducing interference.
Scaling Overall Network Capacity
As the number of subscribers increases, so does the demands for capacity on the broadband wireless network. SkyPilot provides a simple solution to increase overall network capacity. By simply adding SkyGateway base stations to the network, the overall network capacity can be increased linearly. With a total throughput of up to 20 Mbps per base station, the network capacity can be easily scaled to meet total bandwidth capacity requirements.
Load Balancing and Traffic Segmentation
When multiple SkyGateway base stations are added to the network, the Synchronous Mesh Protocol automatically recalculates the optimal paths for the network and load balances the traffic across all of the base stations. In this manner, the subscribers' traffic is optimally segmented across the available base stations to provide the best performance for the entire network.
