Advanced SectorSwitch Antenna Array

The elegance of SkyPilot's carrier-class broadband wireless solution begins with a unique integration of advanced antenna technologies. To achieve the seemingly incompatible goals of extended range, high modulation, interference mitigation, and 360° coverage, SkyPilot architected an innovative antenna array that also serves as the foundation for Superior RF Management capabilities and Sophisticated Mesh Networking.

Extended Range, High Modulation, and Interference Mitigation
All of SkyPilot's mesh infrastructure products incorporate the following antenna technologies to provide industry-leading RF capabilities.

Sectorization
Since each sectorized antenna focuses its energy in a directional, 45° horizontal beam, it provides much longer range than omnidirectional antennas while also maintaining high modulation rates. Sectorization also enables SkyPilot to provide Superior RF Management functionality such as interference mitigation and spectral reuse.

High-Gain
The sectorized antennas also provide high-gain through a narrow vertical beam that increases the receive sensitivity of the antenna. This effectively extends range even further while keeping modulation rates high and further mitigates interference.

High-Power*
To maximize coverage range and modulation rates, all SkyPilot products provide high output power, and when combined with the sectorized, high-gain antennas, SkyPilot can cover up to 10 miles / 16 kilometers between systems. High-power systems also provide improved coverage since they can penetrate certain obstructions like foliage, windows, and walls.

360° Coverage
Sectorized antennas are great to extend coverage range, but by definition they don't provide omnidirectional coverage. Therefore, to architect a solution that provides the 360° coverage required for mesh networking, SkyPilot combines eight (8) separate 45° sectorized antennas into each mesh infrastructure product. The integration of these antennas allows SkyPilot to maintain industry-leading range as well as broaden coverage to 360°.

*Different countries regulate RF output power in different manners; therefore, each SkyPilot product is customized to match the output power for each specific country. Since SkyPilot effectively mitigates interference and provides highly-sectorized antennas, it is considered a point-to-point system under FCC regulations. Therefore, instead of being limited to 4 W / 36 dBm EIRP, SkyPilot can transmit at much higher power levels, thus achieving effective output power as high as 28.2 W / 44.5 dBm EIRP. In other countries, SkyPilot can customize the output power (for example: 4 W average, 4 W peak, 2 W average, 1 W average) to match the specific regulations in over 30 countries around the world.
