Sophisticated Mesh Networking

Now that you understand how SkyPilot's Advanced Antenna Array offers significant advantages for extended range and 360° coverage and SkyPilot's Synchronous Mesh Protocol provides Superior RF Management, you will see how it can also offer sophisticated mesh networking capabilities to achieve advantages not available with any other broadband wireless system.

Automatic Node Discovery
Whenever a new node is added to the network, it is automatically detected and establishes links with other devices that surround it. This makes deploying the mesh network remarkably simple.

Optimized Best-Path Routing
To ensure optimal performance throughout the network, SkyPilot uses a best-path routing algorithm considers every link's available capacity and number of hops to the Internet. This algorithm ensures efficient RF utilization by only using optimal best-path for traffic flows and reserving alternate paths as standby.

Dynamic Rerouting
SkyPilot constantly analyzes the links to ensure optimal efficiency and dynamically adapts to changes in the mesh network. Any change in link state causes the algorithm to dynamically recalculate best-path routes to determine optimal paths. Therefore, whether links are added, removed, or change modulation rate, the protocol makes sure that the network is tuned for peak performance.

Scalable Capacity & Load Balancing
With the SkyPilot system, adding capacity to the network is as simple as adding base stations. Additional base stations provide additional paths to the Internet, and the dynamic rerouting algorithm uses these new routes to dynamically balance the traffic load across all of the base stations through traffic segmentation. This increases network-wide capacity as well as increases per-subscriber performance.

Failover Routing
If any base station or mesh node fails or loses connectivity, the algorithm automatically finds an alternate path and dynamically recalculates routes to find the best path to traverse the network.
